Esports arena to grace Pacaembu Stadium

Brazilian esports promotion group BBL (Bad Boy Leeroy) has sealed a deal to bring esports to the Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo.

The Pacaembu Esports Arena will be built inside the Pacaembu Stadium to host Battle Royale competitions like Fortnite and Free Fire.

The structure will support 100 simultaneous players, making it the largest Battle Royale arena in the world, and will feature a huge (482 square meters) LED structure, and seating for 2,000 spectators, in the 3,000 square meter building.

Stage 1 of the project is expected to be completed by the end of April next year, with full completion by 2023. The investment in the project is expected to be US$17.5 million.

The Pacaembu Esports Arena is part of a renovation project led by Allegro Pacaembu to renew the stadium and broaden its use by the public.

Nando Cohen, CEO of BBL said:

"This will be the Mecca of esports in Brazil. This is a very important step for the project and I am happy to be participating in it. We are honoured to take another step forward, helping to boost Brazil as a world reference in electronic sports. This Arena represents a new phase not only in the lives of gamers, but in the entire ecosystem and fulfills BBL’s mission to foster and democratize the culture of games and esports, connecting brands, developers and consumers."
